14 Reasons To Quit Your Day Job
Many of us often think about quitting our day job. If you’re reading this than you’ve probably had the same thought. Those of you who have never had this thought…you lucky son of a gun! You’re probably doing something you love. This post isn’t about how to quit and live on the successful fruits of your own labors (I’ll save that for a different day;) But the reasons why we are compelled to have this dark tempting thought of “I should quit my blasted day job”.

You feel you have more to live for than answering to someone else’s orders, and being on someone else’s dime. You love your freedom. You have this inbound idea of how you want to live, and you day job just doesn’t cut it

It’s not your passion. What you’re doing isn’t what you always dreamed of doing.

The people there are bringing you down. This isn’t to say that everyone you work with is a wet blanket or a control freak. But there are those type of personalities in every work place that just get to you and make work…harder than it needs to be. Though I do have to say co-workers make or break a job. The greatest co-workers will keep you where you are for much longer than you thought.

Self discovery. How long have you wanted to quit, and go do something else? Long enough I suppose. Give it a try, you learn more about yourself, new skills and new people.

What you’re capable of isn’t appreciated or recognized where you’re at. You deserve more for the effort you put towards your company day after day. Your skills could better utilized somewhere else.

No one sees your potential. What are you even doing in a place that will purposefully keep you at the bottom of the totem pole? Branch out there, seek new opportunities to grow.

You have a serious case of Wanderlust. This is a big one for myself. There is so much in the world to discover, cultures to experience, and foods to taste.
The road trips are endless, but your at an endless job. Stuck. When you’d rather be out there, living.

Have enough respect for yourself to leave, if you value yourself then take care of yourself. If you can do better somewhere else, do what it takes to get there. Put yourself through school, work those long hours and never give up until you can quit that dreaded day job you’ve been thinking about for the past 5 minutes. 5 months. 5 years. Live the life you dream of, and never let go of those dreams that push you forward.
